If your prospective employer has requested a criminal record check in the U.K., your candidate portal's background screening form will request you to answer whether you've held a conviction.
If you have a previous criminal conviction in line with the DBS and Disclosure Scotland guidance, you must disclose this on the relevant page so that there is no discrepancy when the results are released by the Disclosure & Barring Service.
- Basic DBS check: Reveals unspent convictions.
- Standard and Enhanced DBS checks: Reveals spent and unspent convictions, cautions, warnings and reprimands.
- Disclosure Scotland Criminal Record check (Basic): Reveals unspent convictions.
- Disclosure Scotland Criminal Record check (Standard): Reveals spent and unspent convictions, cautions, warnings and reprimands.
