• Why am I being asked to provide my mother’s maiden name?

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Disclosure Scotland normally require details of the candidate's mother's maiden name for identification purposes in order to process a criminal record check.


In some cases, for processing international criminal record checks, the mother's maiden name may also be required.
