Getting a code but it's not working?
- Avoid requesting multiple codes
- Verification code expiry
Verification codes expire shortly after they are received for security reasons. Once you receive your code, please use it as soon as possible to avoid it expiring.
- Make sure to open the “Get started” link in a new tab
- If you choose to continue with your email, you will be sent a verification code to complete the sign-up process
- If you choose an alternative sign-up method, then a verification code will not be required
Further things to check
- Make sure the email address entered is correct and spelled properly
- Even small typos can prevent the code from being delivered
- Some company IT policies, filters or firewalls may block or filter verification emails. If you’re using a work email: Check with your internal IT team for any restrictions (verification code comes from automated verifications). Try using a personal email address instead, where possible
- Verification emails can sometimes be filtered as spam. Please check: Junk or spam folder. Any other inbox tabs (e.g. clutter, promotions)
- Email subject will contain the following words: "Microsoft on behalf of Verifile"
- Email sender: msonlineservicesteam@microsoftonline.com
Final steps
- Check you're using the same email address you provided
- Confirmation that you’ve checked junk/spam folders
- Only request a verification code once
- It may take a short time to arrive.
- Requesting another code will invalidate the previous one, which can cause confusion
When receiving the email with the “Get started” link, please make sure to open it in a tab on your internet browser and not within the email itself.
- To do this, open the link by either holding down on the “Get started” button for a few seconds which will then provide the option to either open the link or copy it. If you choose to copy it, please paste it into the URL section of your internet browser. If you choose open link, it will automatically take you to a new tab on your internet browser.
- You will then be asking to sign in with your email.
- Once done, you will be given the option to continue with your email for the sign-up process or be able to choose an alternative sign-up method.
- Once you have done the above, you will be sent to the Welcome page where you need to click on “continue with checks” on the bottom right-hand side of the page and that will take you to the “Digital identity verification” page which is where you will begin your form.
