If you need to provide a record of your previous employers and dates of employment, you can request an Employment History Statement from HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs).
Ways to Request Your Employment History
- Online: Visit gov.uk/get-proof-employment-history and follow the instructions.
- By Post: Write to HMRC with a request for your employment history, including your full name, address, National Insurance number, and dates of employment if known.
- Phone: Call the HMRC helpline at 0300 200 3300 to make your request. They may ask for identification details.
What to Expect
It may take a few weeks to receive your statement by post.
Ensure you make the request early if it’s needed for your background screening.
Verifile does not issue these records but accepts them if they are required to verify previous employment.
If you’re unsure what to include in your request or need assistance with submitting documents, please contact us using one of the options below.
