• What are background checks?

When starting a position at a new company, many individuals are required to undergo background checks.

Background checks will verify who you are and your personal information.

There are many types of background checks that are available, but they’ll most commonly include collecting references from your previous employers, verifying your qualifications with universities, colleges or schools and undertaking credit and criminal record checks.

If you have lived abroad, we may carry out the same checks internationally.

Verifile offers a wide range of check types, and your prospective employer (The organisation that requested your background checks) will specifically choose the ones you will undergo.

The checks that they have chosen for you may apply to your department, role, project, or contract.

Any questions you may have about why a specific check has been chosen will need to be directed to your employer.

To provide the information that is required to carry out your checks, we will ask you to fill out an online screening form.

When your prospective employer places an order for a check, we will send you a welcome email, which includes a link to the Verifile Candidate Portal, and your login details to access this online form.

Once logged in, you will see the checks your employer has requested on the left-hand side of the webpage.

Once you provide your information to us by submitting the form, we will verify the information you have provided.

Upon reviewing this information, your employer might wish to request some additional checks—if this is the case, our candidate team will be in touch to request further information we might need.

Once we have completed all the checks, we will send a final report to your prospective employer. This will detail all the information that we discovered during the checks.
